Earlier today, I got to hang out at McKinley Freshman Academy. They had a Black History Through Music program, explaining the impact of Africans on popular music. There were drummers, dancers and various other forms of music performed.

Everything from traditional African drumming to modern day hip-hop to spoken word. I gave a brief speech on how influential music is, and about being conscious about what you listen to and the effect it has on your behavior. I made sure I mentioned how most rappers "ain't about that life" and entertainment is just that...entertainment.

Thanks to Ms. Douglas for inviting me out, and also shout out to the students for putting on a great show!
