Did Miguel Cause That Fan Brain Damage At Billboard Music Awards?

Facebook

We’ve all been amused by the countless Miguel leg drop memes and video re-runs of his infamous Billboard performance. Yeah, it’s all fun and games until someone  ends up brain dead!

If for some reason you’ve been under a rock for the few weeks, Miguel accidentally landed on a poor woman’s head while attempting to fly across a mosh pit during his 2013 Billboard Awards performance of “Adorn”. Watch it here.

Afterwards, she was rushed backstage and treated with an ice pack and a sincere apology from Miguel himself.

The natural inclination is to make sure everyone around you is okay, right? But then it’s like, the show must go on, which is, like, professionalism, so that kicks in. As soon as the cameras are off, I’m, like, running to the girl, making sure she’s okay, ‘let me take her to the infirmary, let me talk to her, are you okay?’

– Miguel

Miguel goes on to call the victim, Khyati Shah, his “new friend”, and she replied to reporters, “I adorn him.” Miguel went out to release his new video with Mariah Carey and just this weekend performed their hit “Beautiful” at Summer Jam.

It seemed as if all was well in Miguel’s world…until today!

According to TMZ, Khyati suffered serious trauma from the incident at the Billboard Awards. In fact, her symptoms are consistent with brain damage, the victim’s lawyer (Vip Bhola) explains.

Some of the difficulties she’s experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury.

Her attorney goes on to call the BMAs’ response to the accident (an ice pack designed to soothe a bruised elbow) a “pathetic” gesture. He says his client should have been rushed to the hospital. Reportedly, they are waiting for test results from a neurologist. When the results are in — sometime next week — Khyati will decide if she will file a lawsuit against her new friend Miguel and the BMAs.

Miguel has yet to respond to the pending lawsuit.
