It was announced in February that there was finally a plan for the rundown and vacant Garden Village Plaza in Cheektowaga and now it's finally happening. What has been called an "eyesore" is finally beginning the transformation. Cheektowaga Supervisor Diane Benczkowski announced yesterday that the former plaza located at French and Union had begun the demolition process. In a press release issued on Twitter she thanks residents for their patience and said " No resident should have to love near or look at an eyesore such as what the Garden Village Plaza became".

The site will become home to "light manufacturing and warehousing" which will create hundreds of jobs for the area.
