In the annals of ridiculous sports injuries, this one doesn't take the cake as much as it takes the candy.

Dallas Cowboys safety Barry Church had to miss training camp on Monday because he hurt his tooth eating a Jolly Rancher.

Yup, you read that right.

Church chipped a tooth while eating one of the candies about a week before camp opened and had been battling the pain since. On Monday, he woke up in agonizing pain and had to go for a root canal.

Church, who is in his fourth year in the NFL, missed the last 13 games last season due to a tear in his Achilles tendon. You know, a real injury.

He said he will stick to soft candies, although everyone knows Gummy Bears can wreak havoc with your teeth, too.
