Chris Brown Falls Victim to a ‘Swatting’ Prank

Los Angeles police were called to Chris Brown‘s home after they received news of a domestic violence situation occurring, which turned out to be false. Apparently, the R&B singer was a victim of a new pranking trend called “swatting.”

According to PopCrush, authorities were called to Breezy’s crib Monday evening (Jan. 21) at 5 p.m. CT after a caller (aka “the swatter”) told a dispatcher that he wasn’t sure if his mother had been shot. When police arrived, they found Brown’s staff in the home but he was not. After a thorough search of the property they didn’t find anything suspicious.

Given Brown’s past run-ins with police, including his 2009 assault involving his now-rumored girlfriend Rihanna, it’s not hard to see why police thoroughly searched the home with a fine-tooth comb.

However, this latest incident is part of a string of recent “swatting” pranks involving such celebrities as Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian. The mischievous stunt begins with an anonymous person calling police to report a fake crime with the hopes of getting a SWAT team involved in search of a suspect.

It’s not a funny prank and it annoys both police and the celebrities that reside in the homes. Recently, a 12-year-old boy was arrested in connection with swatting pranks involving Bieber and actor Aston Kutcher.
