After winning Mixtape of the Year in the 2015 The Boombox Fan Choice Awards, Childish Gambino may be calling it quits when it comes to releasing music under that moniker.

The rapper, who also splits his time as Donald Glover the actor, writer and comedian, stopped by the Today show this morning (Feb. 25) to promote his new film, The Lazarus Effect, and he admitted that his rap career using the name Childish Gambino will be coming to an end at some point.

"I always want to do music," he said. "I love music and I'm already putting out projects like quietly everywhere and I always want to produce. But I guess Childish Gambino is like a period in my art time. I want to have periods in my life. I feel like Childish Gambino is a period in my life that should come to a close. I like endings."

The former Community star is now focusing on his acting career and there's a chance that he'll be playing the role of Spider-Man on the big screen.

"There's been talkings about it," he revealed. "I'd be honored to play it, but it's really not up to me. I just want Spider-Man to be good. I look at my life as something you should be able to paint."

The 31-year-old also shared that he's not very active on social media these days. The MC only wants to communicate things that are meaningful. At this point, Gambino is losing his desire to post frivolous words. "I feel like everything you put on social media it kind of lasts forever," he stated. "So even if I post it for a second it's gonna be there. My fans will find it again, so I just want to be like respectful almost for my audience."
