The emancipation of Caitlyn Jenner has already inspired and educated many people around the world.

But now, the real work begins.

In a new weekly blog series for WhoSay, the newfound LGBTQ icon is opening up about her journey, living life in the public eye as a transgender woman as she educates herself about the struggles and triumphs of the community.

"Up until now, I have totally isolated myself from the transgender community so I have a lot of catching up to do," she admits in the first installment of the series.

She describes meeting a group of trans women and learning about the darker realities of the fight for equality. "Many trans teens are bullied and abused in high school. It's just horrendous. Then there's the other dark side of this issue – did you know that nearly 25 percent of the women in high-end sex business are reportedly trans women?" she writes.

The Real Me will chronicle Caitlyn's learnings and experiences throughout her journey. "I have so much to discover and hope that you'll join me on this adventure. Let's live our true selves and make a positive difference while doing it," she explains.

Along with the new weekly editorial series, Jenner's upcoming docu-series — I Am Cait, premiering later this month on E! — will provide even more visibility for the transgender community and, ideally, will be another valuable step forward in the movement toward acceptance of people hailing from all walks of life. When it comes to progress for the LGBTQ community as a whole, Caitlyn continues to impress with her mission.
