Former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is teaming up with the National Urban League and Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence while being mentored by Magic Johnson and Tony Dungy.

According to Twackle.com, Tony Dungy says  he’s very excited to see Burress become involved in community service and mentoring.

Burress plans to volunteer with Urban League youth programs and plans to recruit other professional athletes to volunteer as well.

He has spent most of the last two years in prison doing time on a weapons  possession charge.

Burress was released from prison last Monday and hopes to play again the NFL.  His agent says he has spoken to several teams.
