Nadiyah Whitaker has been charged with second degree murder for shooting and killing Shanna Mason on New Year’s Day, according to WIVB. The shooting occured on Gold Street, where Mason, a mother of three, was shot on her break from work.

Whitaker was arrested eight days after the murder, which her attorney, Tom Eoannou, says was caused by her involvement in a love triangle and cconsiders it a "crime of passion.' She is being charging with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. While there is a video of the whole incident, her defense says they are focusing on why it happened, rather than denying that she did it.
