Beyonce Responds to Critics Over Lip-Syncing Controversy

The controversy surrounding Beyonce‘s purported lip-syncing at the 2013 presidential inauguration hasn’t quelled, but the R&B queen has a question for the critics: “Can I Live?”

While rehearsing for her upcoming halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, Baddie Bey uploaded a flick to her Instagram page on Sunday (Jan. 27) of herself rocking B-Side clothing’s “Can I Live” grey sweatshirt. Her crew neck pays homage to Jay-Z‘s song of the same name from his classic album, ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ But the photo is also being interpreted as Beyonce throwing a subtle jab at the critics who are still questioning her vocal performance at the inauguration.

Either way, sales of B-Side’s sweatshirt will mostly likely go through the roof thanks to Queen Bey. The item, which costs $102, is currently on back order at the U.K.-based company’s official website. So good luck in copping this now sought-after attire.

As for the lip-syncing brouhaha, a recording engineer has come to the defense of Beyonce and insists that she was indeed singing the National Anthem live. “At least half of what we were hearing, if not all, was her real vocal,” said Ian Shepherd on his blog. He suggests that she sang live to a pre-recorded track and it was the band who was mimicking their performance, which was already revealed.

Beyonce will now have to prove herself at the 2013 Super Bowl that she can sing live and do it convincingly. As we previously reported, Destiny’s Child will rock the Super Bowl halftime stage in the Big Easy on Feb. 3. You can watch the festivities on CBS at 6:30 p.m. ET.
