There's no doubt that Beyonce gave a legendary performance yesterday (Jan. 21) when she sang 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration ceremony. But today, cyberspace blew up with stories reporting that Bey actually lip-syncing her performance -- spreading a blanket of disappointment amongst fans and critics.

The U.K.'s Times initially released the news and reported that the recording was standard procedure -- just in case the performer needed it. And apparently Beyonce felt the need to get some vocal assistance.

This isn't the first time that we've seen the American national anthem sung to a backing track. Whitney Houston's iconic rendition of the song at the 1991 Super Bowl was actually pre-recorded.
