Jay Hicks brings over 15 years of industry experience and knowledge to the table. As one of the youngest Program Directors in Urban Radio he has the experience and vision to "refresh" and "lead" the new era of the music industry. Born on the west side of Detroit, Jeremiah Hicks (known as Jay Hicks) grew up in a neighborhood rich with family, culture, and music. After graduating from Detroit Catholic Central high school , Jay Hicks would go onto pursue his academic career at Michigan State University to study Communications. While attending school in East-Lansing, Jay was able to find an on-air/part time position at the urban radio station Power 96.5. He was quickly promoted to Assistant program Director/Music Director/Night Host for WQHH. As night host he reached the highest ratings in the station’s 15 year history being #1 18-34. As Music Director he was able to make the station become more cutting edge with his ability to pick and break new music. Over the years, key music executives started to admire Jay’s music ear and would lean on him for advice and guidance. This lead him to be selected as Edison Research’s most gifted “30 Radio Professionals under 30 Years Old”. Currently Jay serves as Program Director for Power 93.7 WBLK. Throughout the years, Jay has demonstrated his ability to set goals while maintaining a “team player” attitude along with completing projects in a timely and thorough manner. As an ambitious, creative and experienced Radio Programmer and Music Curator, Jay is ready to lead and contribute his knowledge and expertise to the music industry.
