Soul music originated in the 1950s and early 1960s, combining a mixture of African-American spirituals and rhythm and blues music. People of African descent have always used music to reflect their circumstances and experiences. In fact, Soul music solidified black pride and culture—the key terms here are BLACK PRIDE and CULTURE!

So what percentage of today’s R&B, Rap & Hip Hop would you say reflects black pride and culture? Are most of today’s musicians (if we can call them that) really respecting the R&B/Soul music movement that came before them and really understand the roots and origins of the music and how they are killing the  authenticity of a genre of music that is planted deep into their African (American) history.
