Hip-hop producer AraabMUZIK was shot Thursday evening (May 2) during an attempted robbery, according to his manager DukeDaGod.

Duke posted a photo on Instagram to let fans know that the young music prodigy was alive and recovering in the hospital. "Everyone wish my brother @araabmuzik a healthy & pleasant recovery!!!! #Mvpofthempc #Soblessed," he wrote.

Details about the incident are scarce, but according to Billboard, AraabMUZIK, born Abraham Orellana, was hanging out with his friends in Rhode Island when he was approached by assailants who wanted his necklace. When he wouldn't give it up, they shot him.

"He is recovering now and police are investigating the crime," said a rep for the producer. "We appreciate all the concern and fan support and Araab is looking forward to a speedy recovery and returning to the stage as soon as he can."

Rapper Avatar Darko shed more light on how the MPC king fell victim to the robbery attempt. "Prey for my bro Araab! He just got shot but he'll be alright! He's strong!" he tweeted. "My lil brodi too trill! They tried to rob him and he ain't come up off his s--- so they tried get him outta there! He meant to be here! Foh!"

The beatmaker is known for his work alongside rappers like Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Vado. One of his next major performances -- he creates beats onstage using an MPC -- is set for Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, which runs from June 21 - 23.

TheDrop.Fm wishes AraabMUZIK a speedy recovery. Get well soon.
