Airplanes Vs. Slave Ships

If you’ve ever traveled on a commercial airliner you more than likely would agree on how tight fitting the seats are and how close you are to the person next to you in the same row.

Well a noted designer has written an article on the similarities of commercial airplanes to slave ships that brought Africans to the Americas.

Could it just be mere coincidence that the two are similar or were they built using the same concepts?
