Thats Right Make room for a new culinary high school downtown.

Plans to remodel the former C.W. Miller Livery Stable at 75 W. Huron St. into a second Emerson School of Hospitality cleared a major deal Wednesday when the Buffalo Board of Education signed off on a 15-year lease with the developers

Apparently the Lease negotiations have been ongoing for almost a year, holding up construction on the new school, which won't be ready for almost two more years.  ( Does that shed of the 15 year lease to 13?)

The school district will lease nearly 102,000 square feet of space, paying out about $46 million over 15 years. Building aid from the state will cover more than $30 million.

Sounds like a lot but the superintendent on Wednesday felt confident the school district was ultimately getting a "very fair" and "sound" lease.

Now, construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019 with occupancy slated for January 2020.

"I think it’s a wonderful opportunity. I'm very, very excited for our students," said Patricia Pierce, an at-large member of the School Board. "I love Emerson. I love what it stands for. I love the way the kids want to be there. They're happy. They graduate."
