The people that lost the benefits are not Buffalo residents, they live in the suburbs and rural areas; and according to Marie Cannon, first deputy commissioner in the Erie County Department of Social Services, there will be more to come!

She told the Buffalo News,

It will be ongoing. This is the first wave of it.”

The people who lost their benefits is all due to rules in the federal program for people who are classified as able-bodied adults without dependents. Those people are considered able to work. The people in Buffalo were not subject to the cuts because of the economic and employment conditions in the city.
