It's a great time to be thirty something in America. From commercial ads, musical programming to feature films, it seems like everyone is creating content specifically for us 80's babies. But when you look at the date of these moments we hold near and dear to our hearts, you won't believe these seven things happened 30 years ago!

1. Last night I watched a special 30th anniversary showing of Back to the Future, which first debuted in 1985. This is such a classic film in which Marty McFly first travels back to November 1955 then forward to October 2015 in part two. Check out how close the film was to predicting the future 30 years ago!

There are plans for a big outdoor screening in LA this summer for fans who to unite and enjoy the film and soundtrack that defined our generation.

I started to think about what other gems we got in 1985 and bring to light that "Yes that really was 30 years ago"!

2. Madonna showed the World how to do it "Like A Virgin".

3. Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Tina Turner, Lionel Ritchie, Kenny Rogers and every other relevant singer at that time got together under the direction of Quincy Jones as "U.S.A. for Africa" to sing WE ARE THE WORLD" to raise money famine relief.

4. Average annual income in America was $22,100 and a gallon of gas was $1.09. If this was 1985, I would be a rich woman and could still fill up my tank for less than $20!

5. The classic film “The Color Purple" has its premiere on December 16, 1985 in New York City. The film stars Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover, Margaret Avery and several other notable actors.

6. The first .Com domain name is registered by the Symbolics corporation symbolics.com
Microsoft Corporation releases the first version of Windows, Windows 1.0.

7. My favorite movie of all time Rocky IV was released. (The one where he fights the Russian) You cannot tell my Sly Stallone is not sexy in these training scene. But even more so, as an editor, this montage scene taught me how to perfectly align music to the pictures on the screen! #Perfection
