You would think Buffalonians and residents in the Buffalo area would know what to do, when it's snowing, to avoid a Fender Bender...however, there are inevitably accidents galore every-time there is a significant amount of snowfall.

Here are 5 Driving Tips you can use to avoid an accident while driving in the Buffalo Snow:

1. STAY HOME!

If you don't have a very necessary reason to go out and drive in the snow...work, an emergency, etc...Stay your butt home!  Trips to the mall, trips to the store for some snacks, a trip to a friend or relative's house to hang out, a trip to the club, or a Fast-Food late night excursion are all UNNECESSARY!  Keep you butt in the house!!!

2. DRIVE BEHIND THE SALT TRUCK OR SNOW PLOW!

If you're lucky enough to spot a Salt / Plow Truck...GET BEHIND IT!  You'll have to drive a little slower but you'll be completely protected from the "elements" on the road.

3. INVEST IN SOME QUALITY SNOW TIRES:

'Traction' is of the utmost importance while taking on the Buffalo Snow while driving, thus it's very important to equip your ride with some quality Snow Tires. I remember the days of the chains around tires to deal with the snow but i'm pretty sure those are illegal anymore....however, the ingenuity that's gone into snow tires these days makes them just as effective as a tire with chains around them.

4. INVEST IN A PAIR OF QUALITY WINDSHIELD WIPERS:

Well it DOES help is you can see out of your car in order to drive right? A Quality pair of good Windshield Wipers is a MUST for safe driving and avoiding an accident while driving in the Buffalo and surrounding areas SNOW!

5. TAKE THE BUS!

Listen...despite the "stigma" attached to riding the Bus / Train (which is ridiculous in the first place) ... this is not only the safest means of getting you to work or wherever...it's also the least expensive!  An NFTA "ALL DAY PASS" costs only $5.00 and allows you to get on as many busses back and forth from wherever to wherever ALL DAY!  If you do get in an accident while on the bus, it certainly will not be your fault and the chances of you being injured is probably 1%.
