There was a recent article in a local newspaper showcasing business deals of rappers like Jay-Z and Lil’ Wayne. I have and will continue to stress the fact that our children learn through transmitted images. One of the most transmitted images that tap into the consciousness of our youth, are those of rappers, pro ball players, and anything that glorifies negativity! Our community has got to understand that we can no longer use these images to give our children hope of getting out of poverty. Materialism has really caused us to have a false sense of who we really are as human beings. Parents please do not allow the images mentioned above to be the driving force for your children to be successful in life because they are a false portrayal of reality!
