Sources begin to surface of 25 year old Freddie Gray's death in police custody.

25 year old Freddie Gray of Baltimore was arrested for unspecified reasons last week and died in shock trauma yesterday after suffering a broken vertebrae during the arrest.  Officials have stated that a thorough investigation has been commenced and still have yet to explain the nature of how Gray got those injuries. They have yet to release details about the arrest too.

William Murphy Jr. is the lawyer for the Gray family and has spoken out, “What we know is that while in police custody for committing no crime — for which they had no justification for making the arrest except he was a black man running — his spine was virtually severed, 80 percent severed, in the neck area,” Murphy said. He also called Gray’s injuries “catastrophic.” Murphy said Gray “lapsed into a coma, died, was resuscitated, stayed in a coma and on Monday, underwent extensive surgery at Shock Trauma. “He clung to life for seven days,” he said.

The city began to erupt and marches began to take place after Gray's death yesterday. Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, asked for people to allow a full investigation and to maintain order in the city in the meantime. Murphy however, hints toward foul play by Baltimore police:

“We believe the police are keeping the circumstances of Freddie’s death secret until they develop a version of events that will absolve them of all responsibility,” Murphy said. “However, his family and the citizens of Baltimore deserve to know the real truth; and we will not stop until we get justice for Freddie.”

Murphy has requested that footage of the arrest be released to the public. We will be following the story as developments occur.
